Durham Palladium - September 2014

Durham Palladium Theatre, September 2014

Introduction:

Durham Palladium, my first ever threatre explore, and one that wouldn't disapoint.

The Palladium had everything that you could wish for in a theare explore, red velvet seats,a projection room and stage access, with a nice heritage feel too it as well. There's nothing worse than coming across a modernised theatre in my opinion.

Explored this one with James (BoroLad) and Chris.

History:

[if lt IE 9]> <![endif]StartFragmentThe Cinema first opened its doors on the 18th of March 1929, airing the 'Garden of Allah'. The cinema was damaged by fire on the 16th of January 1934, but can't have been damaged too badly as it reopened on March 5th the same year! Not much seems to have happened between here and 1967 when the Palladium was given a refurb and general re spruce up re opening with the airing of 'The Bible in the Beginning'. The cinema then closed in 1976, reopening as a bingo hall up until 1982 when it became a church! I'm not sure how long it operated as a church for, but I do know it has lain empty since 2004, and 10 years of water damage is sadly beginning to show...

Pictures:

Although taken on the Nikon Df, these photo's are still taken on a DX crop sensor 18-200mm Tamron Lens.

Not an ideal choice of lens, however a lack of funds at the time made for a make do and mend ideology, pics aren't too bad, just forgive the vingetting.

Cheers for Reading,EndFragment
